Welcome to the Youth Center

Please read the Welcome Letter from the Youth Center Director, Ronda Knutson.

Important Tid Bits

Hours of Operation are posted on the front door. There are winter and summer hours.

While there are several publications that guide our programs, the “main” publications that govern our operations are AFI 34-249, AF MAN’s  34-804 & 34-251, and Operation Instruction 34-34.  We can email these upon request.

Youth using the facility (with exception of SAP) must be members of the Youth Center.

SAP is our Before and After School Age Program for youth in Kindergarten – age 12.  It is an all day camp when school is out for summer, teacher conferences, winter break etc.

All membership cards expire on 30 Sept.  Cards are color coded for Under 8, Pre-Teen, and Teen.  Lost cards can be replaced for $1.  Current membership is $30/yr/child.  We offer new comers to the base, one free month membership!

Members 8 yrs and under are to be directly supervised by an adult.  “Directly” is defined as within eyesight of, in the same room, and in the same area unless otherwise defined in program description.

Our planned programs and activities focus on youth ages 9 – 12 (Pre-Teen) and 13 – 18 (Teens) unless otherwise specified.

We offer Youth League Sports :  Basketball, Indoor/Outdoor Soccer, Baseball, Flag Football, and Volleyball for youth 5+.   Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, kind coaches are welcome!!

We are affiliated with, and our center is a Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA), implementing 5 core area program/activities:

  1. Character and Leadership Development
  2. Education and Career Development
  3. Health and Life Skills
  4. Sports Fitness and Recreation
  5. The Arts

We offer 4-H programs and have our own club here at the Youth Center.

We have individualized tutoring for students….we are always looking for volunteer tutors!!  Ask about Above and Beyond program.

Our facility has its own Teen section.

We offer new parent orientation every 2nd Tuesday at 10 AM…..everyone welcome!!

Refunds:  Different paid events/programs each have a different refund policy.  However, any refunds authorized must be picked up within 30 days of approval or it is forfeited.

Pre-Teen Programs

Kids Night Out: For youth ages 6 – 8 on selected Friday’s.  Member Cost is $8 and includes dinner and snack.  Time is 6:30-9:00 PM.  Payment secures reservation and allows you to drop your child off at 6:00 PM.  Non-members fee is higher.

Kids Rockin' n' Rollin': For youth ages 9 – 12 from 8 – 1030 PM on selected Friday’s.  Cost is $5.  Payment secures reservation.  Bring money for snack bar.  Non-member fee is higher.

Treasure Island: For youth ages 9 – 12 from 8 – 1030 PM on selected Friday’s.  Cost is $15 and includes unlimited tokens, pizza and drink.

Hello/Goodbye/Birthday Celebration: Second Wednesday of each month at 4 PM

Torch Club: A leadership club for pre-teens.  They plan special events and community service projects.

4-H: We have an active club called the “Northern Lights club” and they participate is several county events such as Achievement Days and Communication Arts.

Destination Imagination: A problem solving team that will compete in the state tournament in Mar/April time frame.

Teen Programs

Youth Employment Skills (YES) Program: Volunteer program for teens that have completed the 8th grade – senior year.  Earn $4/volunteer hour for college.  Funded by Air Force Aid Society.  Come by for paperwork!  Excellent opportunity to acquire life-long skills to improve “employability”.

Keystone Club:  BGCA teen leadership club organizing activities and community service projects.

Congressional Award Program:  Teens can earn medals and certificates for achievement in volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition/exploration.

For Everyone

Base Skate:  Saturday’s from 6 – 8 PM

Presidents Volunteer Service Award:  For youth ages 5-14  &  Young Adults Age 15-18

We host base-wide events: BGCA Day for Kids (Sep), Family Fun Fest (Oct), March for Children Block Party (Apr),  Egg Hunt/Teen Money Hunt (Mar or Apr), Winter Carnival (Feb)

FitFactor: For youth ages 6 and up.  Parent permission needed for youth 6 – 12.  This is an on-line tracking program for participating in sports events, fitness activities and practicing good nutrition.  Earn daily points and prizes as you reach the different levels!

Family Game Night is a night for family fun and a meal on us!  Usually one Friday per month.
